About the Artist

Artist Statement:

I create paintings that invite the viewer to slow down—to pause, reflect, and reconnect with a sense of calm, beauty, and presence. Whether I’m painting a wide midwestern prairie, a single bloom, or a thoughtfully composed interior, my work centers on the emotional power of color and the quiet joy of observation.

Color is often my starting point—its ability to soothe, energize, or evoke memory fascinates me. I frequently work in earthy palettes, jewel tones, or monochromatic themes, allowing the hues themselves to guide the mood of the piece. I’m drawn to subjects from the natural world—grasses, birds, native plants—as well as the personal spaces we create indoors. To me, a room can feel like a portrait, a vision of who we are or wish to become.

While much of my work is rooted in the landscape and ecological themes, my broader goal is to offer something that feels handmade, grounded, and quietly uplifting—a resting place for the eye and the spirit. My paintings are created for intimate spaces—homes, studios, and places of rest—where art can become a daily, soothing source of inspiration.

Artist Bio:

I grew up in rural northeast Ohio and have lived in a handful of places since—upstate New York, Chicago, Virginia, and southern Ohio. Living in Chicago, left a lasting impression on my work—not because I found inspiration there, but because I deeply missed nature. That longing still shapes what I paint: a return to open spaces, natural textures, and quiet moments.

Although I studied fine art and art education, I'm self-taught in oil painting. I've been painting seriously since 2018, and today I work out of my home studio. The flexibility allows me to create whenever inspiration strikes and to balance my life as a mother. I paint in collections but give myself room to explore and shift within each body of work—it’s a fluid, intuitive process that allows me to explore the power of color, emotion, and intentional stillness.

My home life is full of the same things I value in my work: time outdoors, gardening, hiking, cooking, reading, yoga, and meditation. I believe in a world where we surround ourselves with handmade things, where mass-produced goods aren't the norm, and where nature is something we connect with daily. While I can’t live in that world completely, I create art that helps me shape it in my own way and offers quiet inspiration for others.

Artwork

Most of my artwork is inspired by nature. I am in love with the Earth and the beauty, sustenance and peace she provides us. She is my muse.

I create artwork, primarily in oil, for my kindred spirits. Those who want to fill their home with the beauty and serenity they experience outdoors.

Activism

Because the Earth is my muse, I feel particularly drawn to sustainable practices both in my art making and personal life. I use my platform to draw attention to environmental activism and lifestyle changes that benefit the planet.

In addition to creating artwork that encourages and educates on sustainable choices, I also opt for earth friendly supplies and packaging whenever possible.

My focus is on original art as I see it as the furthest thing from mass produced consumerism. The prints that I do offer are typically produced in very limited editions.

Education

In addition to my love for art and nature, I am passionate about education and encouraging creativity in others.

I believe art making (and viewing) is therapeutic and has the power to enhance cognitive ability, high order thinking, self awareness and emotional intelligence.

I created The Sketchbook Social and The Art Decks with the goal of making art education and creativity more accessible.
