Original oil painting on canvas, 20x24"

Solace in the Sway embodies the serene rhythm of nature, capturing the gentle movement of grasses as they respond to the wind's embrace. This painting reflects the harmony between motion and stillness.

While living in Chicago, I often sought out day trips to various natural settings as a way of gathering inspiration and escaping the city. On one trip I visited Indiana Dunes along the south coast of Lake Michigan. Back away from the water was a beautiful windswept scene of tall grasses growing in sandy earth. The strong sun cast deep shadows across the dunes and the result is the beautiful painting pictured here.

About the Collection

The Artwork in this collection are intended to evoke peaceful memories, both yours and mine. While walking through meadows, beautiful grass weaves and tangles and tickles our legs as we move through it. There is almost constant movement and yet calm stillness and a sense of grounding.

About the Mission

The tall wild grasses of our prairies and meadows play an important role in the health of the planet. I hope to pay tribute to them with my work and encourage others to appreciate them and encourage their growth.

I work as sustainably as I can and choose oil paint as my medium in part due to it's being derived from nature. (I also simply love painting in oil!) I avoid toxic pigments when ever possible and prioritize naturally occurring ones over chemically made. I also opt for sustainable packaging whenever possible. As I grow my business I will continue to choose earth friendly practices and options.
