Who The Art Decks are for (and who not)

Who The Art Decks are for (and who not)

There is an array of products out there to help with creative block. And I'm a fan of most of them. Whatever gets you into the studio is a win in my book. That's why I designed these cards after all!

But I also recognize that The Art Decks are a little different than a lot of other things I've seen on the market. In a nutshell, they are more open ended and require a bit more introspection that most. I think, for most people, that's a good thing. But incase you need more clarification on if YOU will benefit, I've summed things up below.

Who The Art Decks are for

Creatives (Sketchbook Addicts and Art-Supply-Hoarders)

If you simply love making art and maybe even miss your art classes or wish you had been able to study art in college, The Art Decks are a fun way to bring that back into your life.  Use them as a self guided course or simply as a way to finally use all those paints and pastels you’ve been collecting.

Artists (Professional & Aspiring)

If you take your work seriously and you have (or want to have) a career as an artist. The Decks can help you create work that is both successful aesthetically as well as more meaningful. Both qualities that serious collectors seek. Your work may already be good, but exploring new avenues will only make it better over time. I promise

Teachers (High School and College)

I cannot stress enough how perfect the decks are for educators. I have a background in education and I’m convinced that The Art Decks alone could inspire thousands of lessons and can also be pulled out for impromptu sketchbook ideas. Plus the “choose your own adventure” or random selection adds a fun element for students.

Students (High School or College)

If you’re a student looking to pursue art (any visual art) as a career, The Art Decks can help you find the unique style and viewpoint that will allow you to stand out in the marketplace. Use the decks alongside your courses and you are sure to improve!

On the other hand, The Art Decks are not for

-Anyone looking for simple sketch prompts such as “draw your pet,” or “paint a pretty sunset.”

-Anyone who does not want to try something new and learn and grow. (I realize this seems silly, but some people really are stuck in their comfort zone.)

-Children (The concepts outlined in the decks require higher order thinking.) However with the help of a teacher or adult, younger artists could benefit from some of the cards. Also, looking at art at any age is thought provoking and beneficial.

-Paint Pouring enthusiast and other purely abstract artists. (Although some of the cards could be utilized for non-representational art, The Art Deck is designed with a focus on Representational Art and exploring concepts best expressed with attention to more than just composition. Of course, abstract artists that want to grow and explore new subjects would greatly benefit from the decks!)
